Curriculum - EYFS
At Aycliffe Village Primary & Nursery School, we aim to provide a safe, nurturing environment which promotes the highest standard of education for our youngest pupils. Our Early Years team is committed to providing an environment that is rich with possibilities, develops children’s independence and puts children right at the centre of their own learning.
Within our Early Years setting here at Aycliffe Village, we place great value on the development of children as individuals and provide them with the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to prepare them for the challenges in Key Stage One and beyond. Our aim in the EYFS is to build strong foundations which stem from a love of learning. We take pride in offering a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to play by communicating, investigating, exploring and problem solving. We are extremely proud of the learning environment we have developed, and it constantly evolves to meet the needs and interests of our children.
We hope that our enabling environment and warm, skillful adult interactions support our children as they begin to link learning to their play and exploration. We achieve this by designing and delivering a holistic curriculum which maximises opportunities for meaningful cross-curricular links and learning experiences as well as promotes the unique child by offering extended periods of play and sustained thinking following children’s interests and ideas. We value imagination and creativity and seek to create a sense of enjoyment and fascination in learning through a vibrant continuous indoor and outdoor provision supplemented by visitors and school trips.
