Support for Emotional & Social Development
Aycliffe Village Primary School supports children with Social and emotional needs effectively.
Children are encouraged to talk to staff. If necessary children can withdraw into a quiet area where they can calm down and talk with an appropriate member of staff. As we are a small school, there is an atmosphere where staff and pupils know each other well.
A teaching assistant runs Listening Matters sessions which allow pupils the opportunity to engage in craft and less formal activities during which they may talk about issues which are concerning them.
Lego therapy sessions are used to help children with communication difficulties.
